I travel a lot. Usually spend 250-300 nights a year in hotels, I've made a firm rule to not eat in them. I've learned that over 20 years of travel. I'm happy I read a few posts and threw caution to the wind. This place is good. Very good beef. I'm not surprised in KS but in a hotel. I was a little disappointed in the BBQ bacon shrimp, but my fault for ordering seafood in KS. I had them do a 20oz ribeye for me rare. Came out red-pink. Would have liked it a little under but still in the guidelines. Good flavor. Good service. They had an awesome band on Friday night. Good fun.

We had Sunday brunch. The food was cold (health violation?). The desserts were good. The service started slow but ended well. I don't think we will go back.

Nice place but very slow food service. They have a fire pit outside and an upstairs seating. Great place to lounge and have a couple of beers especially if you are not in a hurry.

Great steak menu. I enjoyed the 12oz prime rib. FYI, I asked for rare and was served on the medium side of medium rare. Great beer list. Wine list could use an upgrade. I stay in Garden City every 6-8 weeks and this is their best steak house. Trust me, I've tried them all!

Good food, bad service. Took forever to get our drinks and never did get a refill. Waitress took our order and served the food fine, but then she decided she was going to go eat some food herself instead of serving anymore. After she was finally finished she brought us our tickets after waiting for quite awhile. Good food, bad service.

So we decided to come here for breakfast for my daughters 12th birthday. I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict (the waitress went to great pains to ask how I wanted my poached egg cooked "soft"), my wife ordered the biscuit skillet with a over medium egg on the side and my daughter ordered the Nutella stuffed French toast with a over medium egg on the side. After 50 minutes in a restaurant with only 6 occupied tables we received our food: my daughter received undercooked French toast with Nutella spread on top (I guess stuffed and topped must mean the same thing) and a over hard egg, my wife received a mess on a skillet, the gravy topping was hot but everything under was cold and congealed and a over hard egg (during culinary school it was drilled into us how to prepare eggs), and I received two over toasted English muffins, a decent amount of a little salty smoked salmon, 2 very hard poached cold eggs topped with cool hollandaise sauce that separated (I understand that hollandaise is kind of a pain preparing on the spot but if your gonna use canned at least make sure it doesn't separate) accompanied by cold under cooked hash browns. It was a interesting take on fine dining (having cooked in fine dining restaurants in Las Vegas I can say this is not fine dining). The frustrating part was people who sat down 15 to 20 min after us received there orders before us. When we first moved to Garden City from Las Vegas last year we ate at Samy's and enjoyed our meals. Ever since it has been steadily declining. Very disappointing. This might actually be the last time we dine at Samy's.

In a town past Dodge City, past the tumbleweeds and past the whirly gigs on 400, you will find Samy's. I sat at the bar and had Joe as my bartender and server. All I can say is, Joe is magical. He keeps all bar patrons as well as the floor patrons happy. The only non positive comment I have is about the female wait staff, or a least the ones I observed. They were not attentive to the female patrons. I observed more than one lady come to bar, after sitting at a table to order their drinks. One of the staff actually proceeded to make herself multiple grenadine sodas before she proceeded to work, which I personally never witnessed. My dinner, the Jacked up Sirloin. Wow! Deliciousness. Aged and cooked to perfection! Ladies, sit at the bar with Joe. You can't go wrong here!!!!

In a town of 26,834, for a restaurant to be packed on a Wednesday night, was surprising. I normally would shy away from hotel restaurants, but clearly the locals know this is a good place. I could only identify two other out-of-town people. The menu was big, with lots of Midwestern choices. Seeing as the beef was probably processed locally, I went for the prime-rib, with loaded baked potato and a side of asparagus. It did not disappoint - I was stuffed afterwards. Service was good - the whole place had this "friendly" vibe to it. Apparently there is a roof patio that is a good time with the right weather.

Last night at the bar in Sammy's it was still early my girlfriend and I went for a drink. We sat there for at least 20 min while two bartenders ignored us. Wes finally got around to serving us. The service was the worst I have ever seen. Bad experience will not be going back.

Meh. The service sucks here - the servers are non existent and particularly unfriendly. I'm not sure if they're used to the typical Garden City crowd or if their management just doesn't give a crap about having awful servers but they're unpleasant. I've ordered Tanquerrey and Tonics multiple times here and it never taste like what it should - the last time I pinpointed that it was the tonic that was just AWFUL. I've done dinner here once and it was ok - typical bar food. If you are in GC and you want somewhere to grab a drink I guess you could do that at Samy's or you could go somewhere else. I happen to think that the servers and food at Jax are better. It's not as "nice" as Samy's but having a decent server may make up for whatever "class" you're looking for in a joint. Beware.

Samy's is the best place to eat in Garden City in terms of food quality and decor. The chefs are great and the menu is kept alive, for example they offer a lunch buffet with a different theme every day of the week. Even with this information, it is priced very competitively. The take home: If you want great food at a great price, try the lunch buffet and salad bar for something like $10 a head, get addicted to the food and never stop coming back.

I wish I could give negative stars. The service and food were awful! We were passing through and wanted to taste a good Kansas hamburger. First, the table was dirty, and when we pointed it out to the server she rolled her eyes, came back with a smelly wet towel, and make a very quick wipe of our table. Of course the caked-on gunk was still there. We then waited for more than 15 minutes for anyone to return to take our orders. The server didn't look at us and was incredibly rude when we asked questions about the menu. The food took a long time and was somewhat warm when we got it, and then tasted just blah. No one came to ask how our food was, and my husband had to go to the bar himself to request refills of water. Not one person was even somewhat friendly! If we travel this way again we will definitely find another place to go for food. There are "Eat Beef" signs all over in this part of the world - we suggest finding a different place than Samy's to do so!

We stopped in for a drink and dinner tonight. Our service was a little slow but adequate. My hubby would have liked a second beer but the waitress didn't check with us till we were almost finished with dinner. They do have a salad bar but we didn't try it. Both of us had the French dip with fries. It was what you would expect for quality in a bar. Might come back but it's nothing special.

Tried Samy's at the suggestion of fellow yelpers and was not disappointed. All four of us went with the Sunday brunch but both kids (under 14) ate for free. Favorites from the meal included: Peel and eat shrimp, the crepe bar, chocoloates desserts, and the prime rib. Would definitely suggest this place to others!

This place is great for all meals. The Sunday brunch is great and the fact the kids eat for free with a paying adult is a great place to go after church. The food is good and the portions are well priced. The place is clean and the decor is fresh.

Samy's is hands down our favorite place to go when we visit Granny B in GCK. Granted, I have never actually had a full meal here, I have only filled up on appetizers and h'orderves from the happy hour bar. The friendly service has never disappointed and the beer selection is by far the best I've seen in a western Kansas bar. There always seems to be something going on when we are visiting, whether it be dueling pianos, trivia night, live music or a DJ. I feel right back at home when I am at Samy's.

The food at Samy's is not what I would call "excellent" or "fantastic." Sure the food is hot when it reaches your table, but that's to be expected. On more than one occasion the food was okay..but nothing spectacular.

Wow! The food here is fantastic! I've been eating here on and off for the last 25 years. Let me tell you, since Samy took it over, the quality has gone up tremendously. I can guarantee that almost anything you choose will be delicious. And boy, do you have choices! You can choose from a selection of delicious appetizers that include selections such as Rocky Mountain Oysters or Shrimp (I forgot exactly what it's called, but it was great). They also have a choice of salads, soups, burgers, Italian pastas, chicken dishes, fish or, of course, steak. Do yourself a favor and take yourself out for some good food at Samy's!

I have to agree that this is the best place in Garden City to eat. Prices are reasonable, service is great, food is tasty, atmosphere is superb for SW Kansas.
